The Broadhead family have been part of life at Swithens for over 20 years and want to share their love of the animals, produce and family atmosphere that the farming environment can offer. In addition to family activities and food based experiences at the farm, Swithens also offers a fantastic livery service too.
With 2 children of their own, Angela and Ian know how important it is to spend time as a family and find new, fun ways to educate your kids. By opening the doors of Swithens Farm, they hope to offer the fantastic experience of farm life to others, teaching kids how the food they eat ends up on their plates.
'From field to fork', visitors can be part of the food journey, feeding and petting the animals, and then eating and buying the final products. All of the food sold at Swithens is either produced from the farm's animals or sourced from other farms and outlets in the area, causing minimal impact to the environment and supporting other local businesses.
By focusing on fresh, nutritious food, children learn to develop a healthier relationship with their diet and to respect animals - and with such a strong, local focus, they engage with their community too.
The staff here at Swithens Farm are very friendly and helpful, and we also have younger volunteers working in the Open Farm who are here to show visiting children around. If you're over 15 and you'd like to volunteer to help out at the farm, drop us a line via our contact page.
